Sanctuary's usually not the place you go looking for holiday cheer, but I'll take a reason to log in if it pays out. With Diablo 4 Items on my mind and a stash that's never quite "done," Goblin Greedings feels like Blizzard saying: stop wandering, start hunting. From December 18 to January 6, Treasure Goblins aren't just a quick detour on the mini-map anymore. They're the whole point, and you can feel it the moment you spot that little green blur and your route instantly changes.
The event's backbone is the March of the Goblins reputation board. Kill goblins, build progress, unlock tiers. Sounds simple, and it is, but it changes how you play. You're not only chasing the goblin for whatever explodes onto the ground. You're chasing the next unlock. Once a tier pops, you head to Goblin Square in Kyovashad and claim the cache for that tier. It's a nice loop: hunt, cash in, go right back out. And because it's tiered, you don't get that "cool, I'm done" feeling after one lucky drop. You keep pushing.
The bit most players are gonna care about is the final tier reward: a Resplendent Spark the first time you complete it. If you've been chasing Uber Uniques, you already know why that matters. It's not flashy, but it's progress you can count on, which is rare in this game. After that first clear, the tier's repeatable, so it doesn't turn into a dead event once you've grabbed the headline reward. You'll still be stacking bags, mats, and whatever weirdly perfect piece drops when you're "just doing one more run."
While you're out there playing goblin tag, the Tree of Whispers is basically free value. Turning in Grim Favors during the event adds a bonus cache, the Gift of the Tree, which is described like a Collection of Chaos. That usually means a messy pile of gear and materials, but honestly, that's what you want during an event like this. More rolls, more crafting stuff, less time feeling broke. There are also shop freebies tied to specific dates: 1) Tackle of the First Snows mount trophy on December 18, 2) Fallow-ward trophy on December 19, and 3) Crook of First Snow mount armor on December 20. Grab them, then get back to the part where goblins panic and you pretend you weren't already sprinting at max speed.
Blizzard also dropped a little line about "new whispers speaking of Paladins," which is either a wink at what's coming or just them having fun with the community. Either way, it's good bait for speculation while you're farming. The practical takeaway is simpler: claim your tier caches and event goodies before the window closes, because once January 6 passes, it's gone. If you're the type who likes to keep momentum rolling into the next grind, it's not a bad time to tidy your build, stock mats, and maybe even buy Diablo IV Items so you're not starting the next stretch from zero.
