Cold Snap has the Rust Belt acting like it's trying to kill you personally, and you'll feel it the second you step outside. I've started treating every run like a timed job: grab what's close, cut the noise, and get under a roof before the shivers kick in. If you're still learning the rhythm, keep a quick reference open for ARC Raiders Items while you plan your loadout, because the event asks for a weird mix of stuff and it's easy to waste raids chasing the wrong thing.
Cold Weather RulesThe frostbite mechanic doesn't care that you "just need one more crate." Once your Raider starts that hand-rub or shaky idle, you're already late. Don't sprint across open snow unless you're crossing to cover you can actually reach. I've had the best luck forcing fights indoors on purpose—warehouses, tunnels, those cramped utility rooms where people panic and over-peek. It also resets the snow buildup, which matters more than most folks admit. Stay inside for a beat, listen for footsteps, then push when you've got the sound advantage.
Flickering Flames ProgressFlickering Flames is basically a donation ladder back at Speranza, and it's easiest if you treat it like a checklist. 1) Bank XP early so the track hands you a big chunk of Candleberries. 2) Top up what you're missing in short, repeatable loops. You need 260 Candleberries to clear all five stages, but the track gives around 180 if you're playing regularly. For the rest, the Dam Battlegrounds loop is still the cleanest: swing by the Hydroponic Dome, cut through the Scrapyard, and keep your eyes on those bright red bushes. In snow they're hard to miss, and you can pull 30–40 berries if you don't get baited into long outdoor gunfights.
Hard Spawns That Save HoursMost people get stuck not on berries, but on the picky upgrade junk. Stage 2 wants Industrial Batteries, and wandering lockers is a trap. Go straight to the Spaceport east trench where they reliably show up; it's boring, but it's fast. Later, Stage 5 asks for Mushrooms, and no, they're not tucked in random buildings. You're hunting felled trees and rotting logs near riverbanks, especially around the Bastion side. Bring patience, clear the area, and loot methodically—half the "bad RNG" complaints are just folks sprinting past the right spots.
Rewards And The ShortcutThe grind does pay off. The Space Wrench at Tier 25 hits like it was built for this event, and the Hi-Tech Hiker look is actually something you'll wear. But if your schedule's packed and you'd rather spend your raids fighting than farming bushes and scav, there's nothing wrong with taking the faster route and buy ARC Raiders weapons so you can lock in the Snap Hook and Snowglobe Charm before the timer runs out.
