Once you're deep into Diablo IV's endgame, you'll start noticing that little holy orb over a monster's head and thinking, "Alright, what am I supposed to do with this." That's Judgment. The game explains the icon, not the rhythm. After a bunch of Pit runs and too many "why did that pack not die" moments, it clicked for me. Manual pops and why they change everythingOnce you can trigger detonations on demand, Judgment turns into a mini-combo instead of a timer. With the right setup, core skills can pop the mark early, which means you're lining up explosions with stuns, pulls, or that brief moment an elite finally stands still. It also fixes pacing. You're not waiting three seconds while the rest of your kit is ready. You mark, you swing, it blows. In crowded rooms, that control is the difference between clearing clean and getting dragged into a messy kite-fest.
Build styles players fall intoMost people end up in one of two lanes. First is the active style: you lean into a hands-on loop, you pop Judgment constantly, and you play fast. It's great for leveling, Helltides, and general farming because it keeps you moving and it's forgiving if you miss a beat. You want effects that increase detonation damage, widen the blast, and—most importantly—help marks chain through a pack so you're not reapplying one-by-one. Don't sleep on your shield either; a strong roll can quietly push your output higher than a flashy upgrade in the wrong slot. In groups, there's also a funny rule: credit usually sticks to whoever applied the mark, not the person who popped it, so coordination matters.
